Which course should I choose?

Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Management
This certificate is intended for people who are considering a move into a first line management role or those who are new to such a role.  It can also be a good way to get back into studying if you haven't done any 'formal' study for a while, and can act as a 'stepping stone' to the Level 3 Certificate.

It comprises a study programme of approximately 30 hours and is assessed by one written assignment which is measured against a number of learning outcomes.

This qualification normally takes between 2 and 6 months.

Level 3 Certificate in Management
This programme is intended for the supervisor or team leader who has the authority and personal attributes to organise and direct the work of others in order to produce the desired outcomes.  It is equally valuable for the person who aspires to such a role.  Assessment is by 8 written assignments. 

The Certificate normally takes between 3 and 9 months.

Level 4 Introductory Diploma in Management
This qualification is intended for people who are considering a move into middle management or those who are new to such a role.  As with the Level 3 Introductory Certificate, it can be a good way to get back into studying again, if you haven't done this for a while, and is a good 'stepping stone' for the Level 4 Diploma.

It takes between 2 and 6 months to complete and is assessed by one written assignment after completing 45 hours of study.

Level 4 Diploma in Management
This programme is intended for the 'hands-on' manager whose role is to manage limited resources in order to achieve specific results required by the organisation.  The focus here is on the operational approach - using plans or methods to achieve specific, short to medium term aims, as distinct from the strategic approach where the breadth of authority and timescales involved are more significant.

The Diploma takes between 9 and 12 months to complete and is assessed by 8 written assignments and a work based project.
